Charles Bailey built this row house in 1847 as a three-story Greek Revival home with a garret. In 1872 owner Christian Sado had architect Julius Boekell add a story, a new cornice and new window lintels. In 1906 the stoop came off and the basement was raised to street level so a two-story storefront could go in.
