Monda & Bertolazzi design one of 222nd Street's six single Storybook houses for Selective Homes

Filed under new-building permit 2169-31, this two-story brick row house went up in 1931 for Selective Homes Inc. to plans by the firm Monda & Bertolazzi. Unlike most of its neighbors it was built as a single house rather than half of a mirrored pair, with its own triangular-arched vestibule and a narrow stuccoed gable that never had half-timbering. A broad chimney, studded with stone and filled with diamond-patterned brick set in stucco, is shared with 115-101 next door. The historic wood front door and round brick step survive.
