In 1996, Acheson, Thornton & Doyle completed a three-story brick friary for the Franciscan Friars on the foundation of the 1937 store. The building houses the Franciscan Friars Immaculate Conception Province. Because it is so recent, the landmarks commission classed it as non-contributing when it designated the Sullivan-Thompson Historic District.
