In 1887 Alexander Halliday, a liquor merchant, built 13 Harrison Street on the site of a frame dwelling. The architects D. & J. Jardine designed it to match 15-17 Harrison Street, which he also owned. Halliday ran his business from both buildings for years and owned 17 Jay Street, which meets 15-17 Harrison at the rear. In the twentieth century butter and egg merchants used the building.

“Halliday was a liquor merchant and conducted his business from this and the adjacent building at 15-17 Harrison (which he also owned) for many years.”
