  1. 1835

Three Greek Revival warehouses at 207-211 Water Street go up for Hart, Havens and Louderback

In 1835-36 the Greek Revival warehouses at 207, 209 and 211 Water Street were erected together for three owners: P. J. Hart, Gabriel Havens and David Louderback. Louderback was a mason, and the Landmarks Preservation Commission thought he probably built his own warehouse and may have built all three. It ranks them among the finest buildings in the Seaport district, with granite piers at street level and warm orange Flemish-bond brick above.

  2. 1977

By the time of landmark designation, the Seaport Museum has restored the building as its Model Shop

When the South Street Seaport Historic District was designated in 1977, the museum had already restored 207 and 211 Water Street. Number 207 served as the Museum Model Shop, while 211 housed Bowne & Co. Stationers. The report adds that the original gudgeons for the iron shutters could still be seen on the brick front of 207, and that hoistways had once stood inside, in front of the stairs.
