Built in 1848 for the Isaacs family, this four-story brick house mixes late Greek Revival form with newer Italianate touches: double paneled doors under a large glass transom, reached by a wide stoop. The builder copied the doorway capitals from the earlier house next door at No. 23, which the same family had built.

Her daughter Beatrix, born in 1872, became a prominent landscape architect.

“Minnie and Freddy lived at 21 East 11th Street, which she retained after their divorce, living there for 50 years in total.”
