Detached houses by Charles Stidolph stand on the site later used for Nos. 35-17 to 35-25

Before the present row, this stretch of 86th Street held three of the twelve single-family houses that Charles Stidolph designed in 1927. Those three earlier houses were replaced by the five four-story attached houses at Nos. 35-17 through 35-25, finished in 1990. Six of Stidolph's houses still stand on the block, among them No. 35-15.

No. 35-17 belongs to a row of five four-story attached houses on 86th Street, filed under permit NB 1349-1988 and completed in 1990 for Acapulco Realty Corp. The architects, Fakler/Eliason Associates, gave the facades traditional touches: red brick, pseudo-Palladian windows and pediments along the roofline. A garage door opens at the base of each house. Two more groups by the same firm went up on the block by 1992.
