Kavy & Kavovitt design 35-50 82nd Street as a smaller companion to Stephen Hall

The six-story apartment house at 35-50 82nd Street was built in 1936-37 under new-building permit 5521-1936 for the 35-40 82nd Street Corp., the same developer behind its neighbor, the Stephen Hall Apartments. Kavy & Kavovitt drew both, and No. 35-50, the later and smaller of the two, carries on Stephen Hall's neo-Georgian front: red brick with white stone trim and a pilastered temple-front motif topped by a pediment with an oculus and swags. A third-story balcony was later removed, leaving its brackets.

“No. 35-50, the smaller and slightly later building of the two, continues the facade design of Stephen Hall…”
