In 1928 the Queensboro Corporation began a three-story headquarters on the southwest corner of 82nd Street and 37th Avenue, designed by Morrell Smith. The Queensboro Corporation moves its staff from Manhattan into its first Jackson Heights headquarters
After more than a decade of building Jackson Heights, the Queensboro Corporation shifted the bulk of its work out of its Manhattan offices at 14 East 41st Street and into this building at 37th Avenue and 82nd Street, its first headquarters in the neighborhood. When it opened, 250 employees filled all three floors. In 1947 the company added a second office building, by Andrew J. Thomas, on the corner of 37th Avenue and 79th Street.
