George W. DaCunha designed this six-story, twenty-foot-wide warehouse in 1882 for William Menck, in the round-arched style he had used for earlier warehouses on the block. The Menck firm of William and Charles ran a storage business, based by 1880 at 395-397 Greenwich Street. After building here, William bought the adjacent warehouse at 39 Vestry Street. It replaced an earlier brick building.

  2. 1960

Painted signs of storage and trucking firms remain on the facade

Over the decades the warehouse housed storage firms, including Baker & Williams, and in the 1920s Weinberg & Posner Engineering, the Russian-American Warehouse & Shipping Company and the Marbaud Corporation. In the 1960s it held Nat Brown's Export Packers and Warehousing. Remnants of painted signs for Regina Products and Datz Moving and Storage can still be seen on the front, and the building now has residential as well as commercial use.
