Aaron Marsh, a builder in the mid-1830s who owned considerable property in the neighborhood, bought the lots at 55 and 57 Bank Street in 1841. The next year he built a three-story house on each, sold No. 55 to a physician, William Sharrock, and lived in No. 57 for a number of years. Its Greek Revival doorway, with flanking pilasters and a tall entablature, survives.
“Marsh lived in No. 57 himself for a number of years after 1842.”
