  2. 1913

Kilian Schurger, the house's original owner, has built more than 200 Ridgewood buildings by 1913

Kilian Schurger, the original owner of this house, emigrated from Germany to New York in 1881, and by 1913 he had put up more than 200 buildings in greater Ridgewood. On 69th Avenue he developed rows in 1908 at 59-01 to 59-37 and 59-26 to 59-40, all designed by Louis Berger. The 1910 census found him living in one of his own houses, 87 Foxall Street, now 59-37 69th Avenue, which he had built in 1908.

“…by 1913 was responsible for the construction of over 200 buildings in greater Ridgewood…”
