  1. 1909

Christian and Katherina Doenecke build this house as part of a row designed by Louis Berger

The builder Christian Doenecke and his wife, Katherina Kaeppel Doenecke, both German-born, built the row at 58-03 to 58-47 69th Avenue in 1909, this house among them, from designs by Louis Berger. Katherina was recorded as the owner of many of the properties her husband developed, and the houses resemble those Paul Stier was building nearby.

  2. 1936

A brick garage with wooden swinging doors goes up behind the house

Sometime between 1914 and 1936 a one-story brick garage was built at the back of this lot, reached by a driveway whose gate is shared with No. 58-33. The garage still has its old wooden swinging doors on iron hinges, and the house in front keeps its historic iron stoop railings, newel posts, front door and areaway fence.
