Fred Dehler and J. Maltry were the original owners of this two-family house, built in 1907 under permit NB 2612-1907. Architect Walter B. Wills gave it four bays with three angled bays plus a rough-faced brownstone stoop and a bracketed entrance lintel with dentils. The pressed-metal cornice is original; the stoop ironwork has been replaced.

Brooklyn architect Walter B. Wills designs this house as part of a row on 70th Avenue

Walter B. Wills, born in New York in 1872 to an American father and a German mother, designed the row at 59-22 to 59-30 70th Avenue in 1907. He had begun as a draftsman in his teens and was practicing in Brooklyn by his early twenties, designing mostly row houses and tenements as well as movie theaters and apartment houses. His work also includes the first phase of construction of St. George's Syrian Catholic Church, now a designated city landmark.
