Stier and Berger complete a Renaissance Revival two-family house with a full-height curved bay

Paul Stier was the original owner of this two-family house, built around 1908 under permit 1769-1908 to plans by Louis Berger & Company. Its Renaissance Revival front combines a full-height curved bay, inset panels of rough-faced brick, bands of decorative brick and stone and a cornice with egg-and-dart moldings, consoles and swags. Later owners added cast stone treads to the stoop and a light with exposed conduit at the basement door, and a planting bed fills the areaway.

“Alterations: Non-historic stoop railings; cast stone treads at stoop; light fixture with exposed conduit by basement entrance…”
