Warren C. Dickerson designed No. 753 in 1899 for the developer George Johnson as part of seven semi-detached pairs on the west side of Kelly Street. The Landmarks Preservation Commission found Nos. 753-755 identical to Nos. 754-756 across the street, the tall houses that end the east-side row with three stories over a basement, a flat roof and a prominent modillioned cornice. Nos. 729-731, at the other end of the west side, repeat the same design and were built as three-family flats.
