The Corn Exchange Bank put up this two-story stone-faced bank between 1922 and 1924 on the southwest corner of 82nd Street and Roosevelt Avenue, designed by the firm of Fellheimer & Wagner. When Jackson Heights was made a historic district, the Landmarks Preservation Commission noted that it was the only building in the whole district that had been designed from the start as a bank.

Eagles, lions' heads and carved bundles of corn decorate the Modern Classical bank

Fellheimer & Wagner gave the bank a modern take on classical bank design. Its curved corner bay has a portico of Doric columns, and the pilasters there carry capitals with eagles in relief. Carved stone roundels with lions' heads fill the spandrels of the side facades, and panels showing bundles of corn cap the pilasters. The metal double-hung windows and the glazed transom over the entrance were still original in 1993.

The former Corn Exchange Bank, by then a Chemical Bank, joins the Jackson Heights Historic District

The Landmarks Preservation Commission designated the Jackson Heights Historic District on October 19, 1993, and its report listed the old Corn Exchange Bank as now housing Chemical Bank. The report found the lower walls painted and new signs added to the facade.
