Built around 1911 under new-building application 2900-1911, this three-story flats building over a basement is the first in a run of nine that Rodler raised from 921 to 937 Onderdonk Avenue. It is faced in orange iron-spot brick with brownstone and limestone trim, a carved foliate hood over the entrance and a bracketed cornice with festoons. A one-story garage of the same orange brick was added on the lot some time after 1914.

German-born framer turned developer Jacob Rodler builds the Onderdonk Avenue row

Rodler, born in Germany in 1869, started out in Queens as a framer and soon after 1900 began building multi-family houses, first of wood and later of masonry. In 1911 he built the three-story row at 917 to 939 Onderdonk Avenue to designs by Louis Allmendinger, with piers on brackets and leafy entrance lintels. His name also appears in records as Roedler or Raedler, and in the 1920s he moved his company to Hempstead, Long Island.
