The four-story row house dated from about 1843-45, when Joseph R. Stuyvesant was its owner. In 1890 Katherina Hoffman had architect Sturtzkober raise it a story and give the front Neo-Grec ornament. A two-story storefront went in during 1917, after the old stoop was gone.
