Root and Rust build a Westchester stone Italianate house in their showpiece north-side row

This is the second of five stone-fronted houses, numbers 21-21 through 21-29, that Root and Rust erected alongside their brick row. Three stories over a rusticated basement, it has molded window sills on brackets, arched cornices over segmental lintels, and a round-headed double doorway beneath a classical pediment. The Landmarks Preservation Commission judged the late Italianate group remarkably well preserved and its stone facing virtually unique.

“…they are in a remarkably good state of preservation, and their use of Westchester stone makes them virtually unique.”
