A diner replaces a pair of three-story brick buildings, one used by an express company

Before the present corner building, the site at Church and Lispenard Streets held two three-story brick structures, and an express company occupied one of them. A diner replaced them in 1938-39, and it in turn gave way to the one-story building of 1946-47.

In 1946-47 Benjamin and Philip Hochman had a one-story brick building put up on the corner, designed by Brooklyn architect Mac L. Reiser, to take the diner's place. It ran 35 feet along Church Street and 50 feet along Lispenard Street. A shoe importer was among its occupants, and in 1951 Reiser designed new storefronts to replace its overhead doors.

“Designed by Brooklyn architect Mac L. Reiser, it was erected in 1946-47 for Benjamin and Philip Hochman.”
