The house went up in 1925 as one of eighteen attached and semi-detached homes that C.F. McAvoy designed for the Queensboro Corporation along 87th Street's east side from 35th to 37th Avenue. It was filed under a single new-building permit, NB 100-1925, together with Nos. 35-15, 35-19 and 35-21, which together make up a four-house cluster. Each house in the group has a small front yard and a stoop.

Brothers Charles and Daniel McAvoy, Queens housing innovators, design their second Jackson Heights row

The firm of C.F. & D.E. McAvoy, run by brothers Charles F. and Daniel E. McAvoy, built homes in Queens and Nassau County from early in the century until the Depression. Daniel McAvoy had worked on prefabricated house units since 1917, and his plan was taken up in Miami in 1926 to ease a housing shortage. The 1925 group that includes this house was the brothers' second row in Jackson Heights, after twenty houses a block south in 1924.

“In the following year, the McAvoys designed a similar group of eighteen houses further north on 87th Street…”
