In 1817-18 Aaron Henry, a retired clothier who lived on West Eleventh Street, built two shallow two-story frame houses at Nos. 385 and 387 Bleecker Street. They were two of nine houses he put up on the tract he had bought in 1815. In 1820 the property passed to Samuel Torbert. Stores and a third floor were added in the late 19th century, and although the houses were later stuccoed, their simple wood window frames still show the original frame construction.
