  1. 1927

39-67 is built in 1927 with a street-facing gable that crosses its neighbors' roofs in Roosevelt Court

This house is the ninth in a row of ten on 47th Street that the Landmarks Preservation Commission dates to 1927, part of Sunnyside Gardens' Roosevelt Court. Unlike the eaves-front houses beside it, 39-67 turns its gable toward the street, so its roof forms a cross gable where it meets theirs; 39-53 near the north end of the row repeats the arrangement. Next door, the flat-roofed 39-69 closes the row, turned sideways to face the path through the block.

“The gable front roofs of 39-53 and 39-67 47th Street create additional cross gables with the adjacent eaves front houses…”

  2. 2007

39-67 keeps its painted entrance surround while its front yard is raised and paved

When the Commission surveyed the house for its 2007 designation report, the historic door surround and hood were still in place, painted white, with a mailbox beside the door. The front yard had been raised and paved in concrete and enclosed by a chain-link fence. On the side facing the through-block path, concrete steps between painted cheek walls led down to a basement entrance with a light, and the windows were aluminum one-over-one sash.
