The Marine Air Terminal is dedicated with two Pan Am Clippers on display

La Guardia Field opened in October 1939, but its seaplane terminal was not dedicated until March 1940. Two new Pan American Clipper flying boats, the planes the terminal and its hangar were built to serve, were shown at the ceremony. Arriving from Long Island Sound, the flying boats were pulled by motorboats to moorings right beside the terminal.

“It was not until March, 1940, that the Marine Air Terminal was dedicated. At this ceremony two of the new Pan American Clipper ships were on display.”
