This house went up around 1909 under New Building permit 3214-1909, which covered six two-family houses at 58-15 to 58-25 69th Avenue. Katherina Doenecke was the original owner and Louis Berger & Company drew the plans. The two-story Renaissance Revival house has a buff iron-spot brick front with a full-height rounded bay, a bracketed limestone door hood and a cornice trimmed with dentils, foliated molding and festoons.

Mason Christian Doenecke and his wife Katherina develop the houses from 58-03 to 58-47 69th Avenue

Christian Doenecke, born in Germany, came to the United States in 1883 and was naturalized in 1886. By 1894 he was working as a mason in Brooklyn, and he later ran a construction company, Christian Doenecke & Co., that was dissolved in 1931. His wife Katherina Kaeppel Doenecke, also German-born, was recorded as owner of many of his properties. In 1909 the couple built the houses from 58-03 to 58-47 69th Avenue, all designed by Berger; they later moved to White Plains.

“The Doeneckes built 58-03 to 58-47 69th Avenue (1909) and 59-29 to 59-35 Catalpa Avenue (1913), all designed by Berger…”
