58-26 Catalpa Avenue was filed in 1910 (NB 1114-1910) as a two-story store-and-flats building, owned by Henry Schlachter and designed by Adam Schlachter. It is one of four such buildings at 58-26 to 58-32 Catalpa Avenue, and a 1914 Sanborn map already shows its storefront. The ornate metal storefront cornice, with dentils, egg-and-dart moldings, a foliated frieze and a fish-scale cap, still survives above the shop.
