This two-story Renaissance Revival house was built around 1909 under new building application 824-1909, one of eight two-family houses in the row numbered 58-33 to 58-47 69th Avenue. Katherina Doenecke was the first owner and Louis Berger & Company the architect. Orange iron-spot brick, brownstone and limestone make up the front, with a full-height rounded bay, a bracketed limestone door hood and a cornice ornamented with dentils and festoons. The stoop has since been rebuilt with brick risers and stone treads, and the entrance has a replacement door frame with a sidelight and transom.

Mason-turned-builder Christian Doenecke and his wife Katherina build the row that includes this house

Christian Doenecke, born in 1859 in Helmershansen, Germany, came to the United States in 1883 and was working as a mason in Brooklyn by 1894. With his wife, Katherina Kaeppel Doenecke, a German native named as owner of many properties he developed, he put up the houses at 58-03 to 58-47 69th Avenue in 1909, all from Louis Berger's designs. His company, incorporated as Christian Doenecke & Co., was dissolved in 1931, and the couple later made their home in White Plains, New York.

“The Doeneckes built 58-03 to 58-47 69th Avenue (1909) and 59-29 to 59-35 Catalpa Avenue (1913), all designed by Berger…”
