Builder Kilian Schurger puts up a two-family house from Louis Berger & Company plans

Kilian Schurger was the original owner of this two-family house, built in 1909 under the same new-building permit (NB 1818-1909) as its neighbors at 59-31 and 59-35. Louis Berger & Company drew the plans, giving the Renaissance Revival front four bays, three of them in a curved projection, with incised limestone lintels and a pressed-metal cornice. The 2014 landmark survey found the original front door and the original tube railing at the basement steps still in place.
