Anton Kluepfel builds a two-story brick row house on Madison Street

This two-story house was built around 1907 under permit 1781 of that year for builder Anton Kluepfel. Louis Berger & Company designed it with red brick spandrel panels, stone bands doubling as window sills, and red-and-white header-brick corbelling. In later years the house lost much of its original detail: its cornice was covered in aluminum siding, the stone hood over the door was removed, and the door, transom, stoop and windows were all replaced.
