Louis Berger & Company designs the four-bay brick house at 60-78 70th Avenue for Paul Stier

Built in 1909 for its original owner, Paul Stier, under new-building permit 3613, this two-family Renaissance Revival house was designed by Louis Berger & Company. Three of its four bays curve outward, and the facade carries rough-faced brick spandrel panels, an incised gable on the bracketed lintel over the front door and a pressed-metal cornice trimmed in egg-and-dart and swags. Its rough-faced brownstone stoop is original, though tube railings and an aluminum awning were added later and the water table and basement lintels have been painted.
