    Louis Allmendinger (1878-1937), son of a German-immigrant brewer and a Cooper Union graduate, drew 149 of the 167 buildings Mathews put up in the Ridgewood South district, this house among them. He worked out of offices in Bushwick and set up his own firm in 1922. His other work includes the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of the Transfiguration in Brooklyn and, with his later partner M.     When the Ridgewood South district was surveyed for its 2010 designation, this house kept unusually many original parts. Its pale yellow brick front, raised on an amber brick base with a projecting end bay, still had paired wood-and-glass entry doors in a carved limestone surround with a pedimented, bracketed hood, a bluestone stoop and railing, and its old areaway railing and gate. A grey cornice with swags and cartouches tops the facade.
