    G. X. Mathews builds 1887 Cornelia Street, whose original paired front doors survive

The G. X. Mathews Company built 1887 Cornelia Street in 1911 as part of a row of nine flats designed by Louis Allmendinger on the west side of Cornelia Street, filed under permit NB 1316-11. It still has its historic paired wood-and-glass entrance doors, finished to look like wood grain, inside a carved limestone surround. By the 2010 designation the brick front had been cleaned and repointed, and the six-bay rear wall, with its fire escape, had been covered in white stucco.
