Louis Allmendinger, later architect of a Brooklyn cathedral, designs 2030 Palmetto Street

Like the rest of the southeast side of Palmetto Street, 2030 was designed by Louis Allmendinger under permits filed later in 1910. His later work included Brooklyn's Russian Orthodox Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, built 1916-21 and now a designated city landmark, and its parish house. From 1926 he practiced with M. Allen Schlendorf, and their firm produced the J. Kurtz & Sons store in Queens, the Liebmann Brewery in Brooklyn and the German Masonic Temple in Manhattan.

The designation report found that the stonework on the first through third floors of 2030 had been covered in stucco and its windows replaced in aluminum. The building kept its historic paired wood-and-glass doors with a wood-grain finish and its historic bluestone stoop, now fitted with cast-stone treads. Its cornice of swags and cartouches is painted grey, and a cellar door and a vent pipe were added in the areaway.
