The Jackson Heights Apt. Corp. built Hampton Court in 1919-21 to designs by George H. Wells: eleven five-story-and-basement walk-up buildings, six on 78th Street and five on 79th, grouped around a common garden filling almost the whole block. The six 78th Street buildings, this one at 35-15 among them, were filed together as NB 2896-1919. Each has a six-bay red-brick front with its four middle bays pushed slightly forward, an off-center arched stone entrance and a modillioned cornice.

“The Hampton Court Apartments, built in 1919-21 and designed by George H. Wells, is one of the early garden apartment projects in Jackson Heights.”
