Built between 1919 and 1921 for the Jackson Heights Apartment Corporation, 35-26 79th Street is one of eleven Hampton Court buildings drawn by George H. Wells around a shared interior garden. The five 79th Street houses differ from the six facing 78th Street: they have centered doorways flanked by angled bays and brick parapets set with stone openwork panels. Hampton Court was the first of five garden-apartment blocks Wells designed after Andrew J. Thomas's Linden Court, and all of its white-painted, multi-pane wooden windows are original.
