This row house went up in 1924 as part of Colonial Court, the first block the City Housing Corporation developed at Sunnyside Gardens. The block lay between 43rd Avenue, then Foster Avenue, and Skillman Avenue, and between 47th Street, then Carolin Street, and 48th Street, then Gosman Avenue. It held six small apartment buildings plus eight single-family and 40 two-family houses. Work started in early spring and was done by fall.

Landmark surveyors find the house keeping its original enclosed wooden porch

When Sunnyside Gardens was designated a historic district in 2007, the Landmarks Preservation Commission noted that 41-39 still had its historic enclosed wood porch, with its historic windows, and a historic transom over a newer front door. A historic window and door also survived at the basement, and wood lattice covered the foundation under the porch. The main windows had been replaced with vinyl one-over-one sash.
