John H. Finn kept his office in Lawrence, Long Island, and built large suburban houses in Riverdale, Westchester and Long Island; several of his designs were published in the 1930s and 1940s. The Fieldston landmarks report credits him with a single house in the district, this large and picturesque Tudor Revival design on Iselin Avenue.

“His office was listed at Lawrence, Long Island and his houses were built in Riverdale, Westchester and Long Island.”

Stonemason Louis DiLonardo becomes the first owner of a new Tudor Revival house

This house was built in 1928-29, and its first owner was Louis DiLonardo, a stone mason, who was still living in it in 1934. Its walls mix cut fieldstone, English-bond brick with scattered clinkers, tinted stucco and hewn false half-timbering fixed with decorative nail heads. A second-floor window carries a leaded-glass tree-branch pattern. Apart from a wood deck on the west side, the house has changed little.
