Louis Berger & Company designs 58-21 70th Avenue for Kilian Schurger

This Renaissance Revival two-family house went up about 1909 for its original owner, Kilian Schurger, under permit NB 1819-1909, one of a row of nine Louis Berger & Company designs running from 58-07 to 58-23 70th Avenue. Its brick front carries a full-height rounded bay, incised limestone lintels and a modillioned cornice. The historic iron stoop railings and newel posts remain; the entrance frame has since been replaced with side panels and a transom, and electric meters were mounted at the west end of the first story.
