  1. 1910

Builder Jacob Jaeger develops this lot, one of four in the district not built by the Mathews company

Of all the buildings in the Ridgewood North Historic District, only the four at 652-658 Grandview Avenue were developed by someone other than the G.X. Mathews Company. Their lots belonged to the Germania Heights subdivision laid out around the turn of the century, and Jacob Jaeger, a builder who also put up several buildings in the Stuyvesant Heights Historic District, developed them in 1910 to designs by Louis Berger and Company.

“…were the only ones in the Ridgewood North Historic District not developed by the G.X. Mathews Company. Part of the turn of the century “Germania Heights” subdivision…”

  2. 1920

A garage is added in 1920 to the two-story corner building at Linden Street

The two-story Renaissance Revival corner building, also numbered 2050 Linden Street, was filed in 1910 under permit NB 1142-10, and a one-story, two-car amber brick garage with two metal roll gates followed in 1920 under NB 3771-20. Its Linden Street side has a central entrance under a carved limestone hood, while the ground floor has since been refitted with storefront infill, an awning and a large sign facing Grandview Avenue.
