No. 759 is half of an end pair in a group of seven semi-detached pairs on the west side of Dawson Street that George F. Johnson had W.C. Dickerson design in 1898. The Landmarks Preservation Commission noted that the street numbering on this blockfront leaves out Nos. 765, 775 and 785.

“Nos. 765,775,785 have been omitted from the street numbering system). This group of seven pairs of semi-detached houses was designed by W.C. Dickerson in 1898…”

759 Dawson Street keeps its flat-roofed three-story design for three families

Unlike most houses in the Longwood Historic District, Nos. 757 and 759 were built three stories high over a basement with flat roofs, to hold three households rather than the usual two. In 1980 the Landmarks Preservation Commission found the pair, like its near-twin at 787-789, in excellent condition and retaining its original architecture, down to its uncommon multi-paned front doors.

“Both pairs are in excellent condition and retain their original architectural integrity.”
