Oscar I. Silverstone designs the William Penn Apartments for developer H. Osias
Read more
Built in 1951-52 for the developer H. Osias, this six-story building was among a number of apartment houses put up in Jackson Heights after World War II. Oscar I. Silverstone gave it light courts at all four corners and a recessed entrance court on 35th Avenue. Its Georgian touches are limited to brick corner quoins and two wooden porches with iron railings in the court; the porch on the east side was later rebuilt. A one-story garage stands at the back, on the rear alley.
