No. 17 Bank Street is built in Linus Scudder's Italianate row, then raised to four stories
Number 17 was part of a row of Italianate houses that builders Linus Scudder and Henry L. Cathell put up in 1856-57. It was later raised by a fourth story and given a bracketed cornice. The stoop was eliminated in favor of a basement entrance. Even so, the report notes the house has been well maintained, and its window lintels still carry the row's eyebrow cornices.
