Robert Tappan designs this house with an attached side garage for the Queensboro Corporation

The Queensboro Corporation built this house in 1926 to Robert Tappan's design, as half of a double house with No. 34-46. Each of the ten houses on this blockfront has its own side garage, with a brief driveway shared with the next-door house in the adjacent pair, and all have front gardens and private gardens behind. The group closely resembles five double houses Tappan designed at the same time on 86th Street, directly behind it.

“Each house has an attached garage at the side and shares a short driveway with the neighboring house in the adjacent pair.”

Landmarks report finds the house's leaded transoms still in place

When the Jackson Heights Historic District was designated in October 1993, the commission's survey of this Tappan group recorded that entrance and garage doors had been replaced on some houses. Most of the original windows survived, however, along with every one of the leaded transoms above the front doors.

“Alterations include replacement entrance and garage doors, although many of these elements, as well as most of me original windows and all of the leaded transoms, remain intact.”
