Christian Scientists build only the basement of Arnold W. Brunner's planned church

Jackson Heights' Christian Scientists met in the Community Casino until 1923, then in a 37th Avenue storefront the Community Church had just left. Shortly before he died in 1925, Arnold W. Brunner was hired to design them a neo-Georgian church, but only its basement level was built, in 1927, overseen by his successor firm Gehron & Ross. The brick wing has limestone quoins and a limestone entrance portico on 35th Avenue.

“Shortly before his death in 1925, Arnold W. Brunner was commissioned to design a neo-Georgian style church, of which only the basement level was constructed…”
