Number 1855 Putnam Avenue, on Lot 62 of Queens tax block 3471, was built in 1911 by G. X. Mathews under permit NB 1312-11, which also covered seven neighbors from 1851 to 1865. Architect Louis Allmendinger gave the whole group the same Romanesque Revival and Renaissance Revival vocabulary. The row lines the west side of Putnam Avenue between Onderdonk and Woodward avenues.
