The Covenant Lutheran congregation was founded in 1909 and first worshipped in a store at Forest Avenue and 69th Avenue. In 1911 it bought this corner lot, where Catalpa Avenue meets 60th Lane, and built a chapel on it before the year was out, which served until the present church and parsonage replaced it in 1914-15.

The United Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood forms and later comes to share this church

In 1991 the St. James Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood merged with the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood, once the First German Presbyterian Church of East Williamsburgh, to form the United Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood. That congregation later sold its own building on 60th Place and now worships in this church alongside the Covenant Lutherans. A sign for the United Presbyterian Church hangs on the building next to the older Covenant Lutheran sign box.

“…sold its church building on 60th Place and now occupies this church building along with the Covenant Lutheran congregation.”
